Modern Middle Manager
Primarily my musings on the practical application of technology and management principles at a financial services company.
Forced to punt.

I have been fighting to convert our branch offices to Citrix Metaframe over the past few months which would bring not only the benefit of releasing us from the usual desktop upgrade cycle but also quickly convert our end-users to a Windows 2000/Office 2000 platform. Two senior managers have been resisting my grand strategy (irresistable force meet immovable object) and I've finally been forced to back down. For the time being, anyway. One of the branches currently run by a senior manager (who reports to the other one resisting my plans, funny how that works) is a full-time body short with two more key people going on vacation in August at the same time. Oops. I'll have to work something out.

Another problem we've found with the Citrix Strategy has been people putting enormously large documents on their desktop, increasing the size of their roaming profiles to a gazillion megabytes. This slows down their performance, a flaw that gets blamed on Citrix. Sigh.
